This is a lot more on the soft skills side but when thinking of an answer to your question on people that influenced my personal gowth two names popped into my head:
1. Leo Buscaglia
2. Richard Bach
I have not read works from or listened to lectures from either person in decades but I still feel the influence from their books I read starting more then 20 years ago. I would have to say that both of these people really helped me with EMPATHY. Something I believe to be an invaluable skill for an architect.
